R No.174
Let me start with myself.
1. Band lovers Their traits >> Bands are sacred, practically gods / Knowledge about bands = status / They look down on ordinary people / Mediocre, yet they act like geniuses / Discriminatory, closed-off, aggressive
Some time ago, band T-shirts became a trend among regular people. That was the spark. Band nerds, nah, band extremist supremacists, launched a kind of baptism movement against the masses. “What’s your favorite album?” If that question comes your way, watch out. It sounds friendly, but it’s a sly attempt to measure your knowledge level. The moment you give an off-target answer, their condescending assault begins. Hell, you’ll get threatened like, “Wear a NIRVANA T-shirt and I’ll shoot you with a shotgun.” They’ll treat you like Kurt Cobain!
By the way, do you know the “correct answer” to “What’s your favorite album?” It’s simple. You name one of the band’s minor albums. Band nerds are idiots. They think knowing a minor album is good.
So if me speak as a “true band music lover” Here’s what I’d say: You know the minor tracks. Then?
I can’t stand the tendency to praise “knowing obscure songs = being a cultured, authentic fan.” Minor or not, if you think a band’s music is cool and you listen to it, shouldn’t that be enough? idiots.
And if band nerds hate it so much when regular folks wear band T-shirts, maybe they should think of it like this: Thanks for being a walking billboard for your favorite band.
Oh. Sorry, sorry. I forgot. You don’t actually want new fans to begin with. LOL
